MJF Proposes 9 States

30 Nov 2014, Kathmandu- Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF), political party led by Upendra Yadav have proposed 9 states.

President of the party Upendra Yadav has proposed 9 states to the Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (PDCC). Yadav led MJF is one among group of 22-party alliance led by Pushpakamal Dahal "Prachand" of Unified Communist Party of Nepal. 22-party alliance have not been able to propose any common proposal so far.


Yadav has proposed to divide Federal Republic State, Nepal to 9 geographic states with 2/3 member can change name and capital of the state. MJF has urged to make Madhesh as a single state and Birgunj as its capital.

Yadav has proposed "Limbuwan", "Kirat", "Tamsaling", "Magarat", Newa", "Narayani", "Tamuwan", "Madhesh/Terai" and "Karnali/Khasan". As per his proposal, Ilam, Dhankuta, Paanchkhal, Tansen, Kathmandu, Gorkha, Pokhara and Surkhet for "Limbuwan", "Kirat", "Tamsaling", "Magarat", Newa", "Narayani", "Tamuwan",  and "Karnali/Khasan" respectively.

Nepali Congress and CPN-UML has already been proposed seven state proposal  with VDCs and municipalities at local level under the province.
