HLPC meet fails to end political impasse

30 NOV  2014, Kathmandu - A meeting of the High Level Political Committee ( HLPC ) on Sunday ended without making any headway.
The meeting, called prior to the PDCC meet today, was expected to find an outlet to the current political deadlock.
According to Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, the meeting agreed to request the government to form a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).

A political deadlock has emerged after the ruling NC and UML tabled a joint proposal at the PDCC on the contentious issues including federation model. The ruling parties are keen to forward the joint proposal to the CA, an idea opposed by the opposition parties.
A meeting of UCPN (Maoist) led 20 party alliance is scheduled to hold an internal meeting after the HLPC meet.
NC senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice president Ram Chandra Poudel and General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, senior leaders Jhala Nath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal along with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leaders Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha were present in today’s meeting.
CA Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang had taken initiative for today's HLPC meeting.
