22 Jan 2015, Agency- A cat had a miracle escape after surviving six weeks stuck in a chimney.
The pet, called Chloe, became trapped after trying to get back into herhome when owner Marion Wood went away to Vietnam in December and left her in an outdoor pet kennel.
A neighbour she had asked to feed the four-year-old animal raised the alarm when she went noticed she was missing from the kennel.
It was only when Mrs Wood and husband Patrick returned to their home in Wareham,
Dorset, that she realised Chloe was in the chimney.
She had heard a faint meow coming from the sealed-up fireplace.Mrs Wood, 75, said: "At first, I thought I was just jet-lagged and hearing things, but when I heard it again I shouted for Patrick and we cut the fireplace open and found Chloe.
"She was half-dead, emaciated and could not see anything. We gave her some water and took her to the vets . They said she had a 50-50 chance of survival.
"It is amazing a cat could survive without food or water for six weeks. The fireplace had been sealed up for at least 20 years."
