Snowfall affects normal life in Mustang

-14 DEC 2014, Mustang - Snowfall in the district has affected normal life with the temperature falling to minus 2 degree Celsius.
The chill weather has forced the public indoors while the government offices have gone virtually silent. Less number of hotels and shops at Mustang district headquarters Jomsom are open, said Kul
Bahadur Thakali, a local of the area.
The residents are keeping themselves warm by huddling around fire in the streets while all the flights to Mustang have been suspended.
"Snowfall has stopped since Saturday night, but the cold has increased," Thakali said adding, "It is very difficult to venture outside."
Snowfall with rain pelted almost all the areas of Mustang from 2 pm onwards on Saturday. Snow in Mustang's highlands Charang, Surkhang, Dhami, Lomangthan, Chusang and Chonhupa VDCs are still in a frozen state.
Snowfall is continuing in the upland areas of Mustang although snow has started melting in the other areas, District Police Office Mustang related.
Snow has started melting in Jomsom, Kagbeni, Marfa among other lower areas, said Khim JC, Assistant Inspector.
Public transport service in Jomsom-Beni road section has come to a halt following thesnowfall . RSS
