Image result for sushil koirala10 Mar 2015, Kathmandu - Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that an environment conducive for drafting the constitution through consensus is being created. He urged the UCPN (Maoist)-led opposition alliance to take this opportunity and lend support for drafting the new constitution.
PM Koirala, who held discussions with UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday, has been continuing parleys with other leaders as well. In a press statement issued on Monday, Prime Minister appealed to all the parties to strengthen their belief that the consensus
would be possible through discussions.
“I request Dahal ji [UCPN (M) Chairman] along with other leaders of the opposition alliance to contribute to this positive political environment,” said PM Koirala, “I also urge leaders to keep their faith in ‘talks’ to forge consensus.”
Talks eludes
No talks were held between the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN (M)-led opposition alliance on Monday. A pre-decided informal meeting between PM Koirala and Dahal also could not materialise today.
The failure to hold discussion among top brass leaders has been attributed to the poor health condition of UML Chairman KP Oli. “The talks could not convene due to illness of UML chairman,” Dahal’s aide Chudamani Khadka said. “Our chairman was ready for talks but no information came to that end.”
Meanwhile, Dahal has summoned a meeting of seven parties including Madhesi and Janjatis on Tuesday morning citing that the ruling parties were not showing interest for talks.
Opposition parties have decided to declare agitation programmes on Tuesday if the talks could not progress.
