Car Smashes Into House As Snow Falls On U

21 January 2015, London- A car skidded off an icy road and smashed into the front of a house in Sheffield as people across Yorkshire and the North East made their way to work in treacherous conditions.
The driver had lost control of the red Ford and mounted the kerb before ploughing into the front window of the property.
Although people were in the house at the time, no one was injured, South Yorkshire police said. The driver also escaped unhurt.
Elsewhere in Yorkshire, Leeds Bradford Airport was closed for a time after around two inches of snow came down during the night.

A picture of the airport showed aircraft and vehicles covered in snow.

A spokesman said snowploughs and gritters had been working along the runways and despite the delays they were working towards ensuring all flights left as planned.
The airport has now reopened and passengers have been told to arrive there as normal.
West Yorkshire Police warned people to take extra care on the roads, posting on Twitter: "Please take extra care when driving today in these cold & icy conditions. We want you to get to your destination safely."
More snow is forecast in some parts of Britain, although showery outbreaks of rain in Wales and the South West are predicted to bring milder weather.
Sky weather presenter Jo Wheeler said: "There’s an area of rain, sleet and snow however, and this is spreading eastwards, affecting the Midlands, northern England and North Wales.
"Snow will mostly fall above around 150 to 200 metres, with the risk of some significant accumulations over the Pennines, but there may be some snow at lower levels as well.
"Showers over western Scotland and Northern Ireland may also be wintry with some snow cover."
