Amidst clamors from oppn, CA forms questionnaire committee

 25 Jan 2015, Kathmandu- :Despite stern objection from opposition parties, CA Chairman Subas Nembang on Sunday afternoon announced formation of questionnaire committee.

The proposal was subsequently endorsed through majority voice votes. 

Lawmakers from opposition parties chanted slogans as the CA Chairman announced name of 49 members in the 73-member committee. 

The committee is mandated to prepare

questionnaire for presenting the disputed issues for vote before the CA by studying the report of Constitutional Political Dialogue and Consensus Committee (CPDCC).

CA Chairman tabled the proposal to that as per the rule 91 of the CA regulations after the UCPN (Maoist)-led 19-party front repeatedly obstructed lawmaker Chinkaji Shrestha from reaching rostrum with the proposal.

The committee will start its works after five days.

The decision is expected to further fuel the disputes between ruling and opposition parties. Emerging from the meeting, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal condemned the formation of the committee and added that they will strongly protest the decision and intensify their agitations. 

The CA meeting has been postponed till next notice.
